Re: What is the history of Runboard?
That wouldn't surprise me. Thor has always worked to keep the old system working while people migrate to the new one. The local users had the better part of a year to go global and the old RB had better than 6 months to adjust when RBNS went live...

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
Actually, didn't all the .fqa-type urls stop working as soon as RBNS went out? Other than that, I think you're right about everything else, and some things just can't be avoided.

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
I think you are correct about the links with the FAQs. I know several of the unofficial help boards closed up then. They were going along great but just didn't have the hours needed to correct dozens and dozens of links...

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
.fqa="Forum Q&A". But yeah, .ffaq, .fmainchat, and every other forum (and thread) on every board out there, too. I like what we have now, though, because you don't need a forum number or topic number, and can just use the post number.

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
This topic is very neat so why not revive it? On the subject of the first member, could AngryBison_71 be it? I think that because he is in the search users and boards but when you click on his name, it says he isn't a member. Strange.
I have some questions about the old Akheva -just need to think of them and then, if it's OK, I might ask

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
That is strange about AngryBison_71, but it's probably a bug that has to do with the underscore in his name. I'll ask Thor about it. Did you see that username at one of the boards, or did you find it through the search feature?
I didn't join Runboard until it was Runboard, but will try to answer anything I can about our history, including the Akheva days.

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
Hmm. I found him on the search engine because he's the first to come up under "A" on the search engine.
And what is underscore?

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
If you look at the URL of my profile, it will have an underscore where the space is. AngryBison_71 is a bit different, in that he has an underscore in the name itself, which I have never seen in a Runboard username before.

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
Anyway I have a question! Good luck answering :
In the earlllllllly days was this place a bit busier? It seems like it. (but then I guess that will always happen because people come and go and message boards in General used to be a bit more popular).

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
I think we shall never know who the actual "first user" was for Runboard. Back before the days of the "global user" (when Runboard started up as "Akheva") Thor had a new block set aside each month for "new boards" and I think that was 100 new boards per month while he was setting things up. Those users were "local users" and if you wanted to join another board at "Akheva" you had to physically join that board... anyway, the gist of it is that since the first users were all "local users" most of their names have been lost in the mists of time.
I remember the days when it was not unusual to see 8-10 new boards advertising at TRD every week! Things have slowed down but I firmly believe our current staff is much better prepared to handle that kind of work flow now than it was back then when Firle had to create policy and procedure "on the fly."

Re: What is the history of Runboard?
Thanks!
It really does say something that Runboard is still so popular It's all thanks to Thor, RB staff and all the other members who keep things interesting
