Oh, it is probably because most of my topics are Read Only and will NOT have any replies added to them. So, my reasoning is that the number of total topics versus the number of total posts will bring the rating down, unless enough replies are made elsewhere in the board to offset this. EDIT: Aha! I seem to be right about my assumption. I added one reply to a topic and the new rating became: 2.34527. So, it went up by .0061nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Sun, 23 Aug 2015 16:49:01 +0000 Re: The RDS Board Activity Indexhttps://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p293509,from=rss#post293509https://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p293509,from=rss#post293509I just got the results for my OW-WHQ Old Warrior board, which though very active for a couple years, has been very dead for a few years. Result: 9.75243 (Board was created 3430 days ago) If I artificially change the board creation date to about 5 years later, I think the formulae will calculate about what result that board would have had in its glory days... Estimated result then follows: Result: 11.72019 (Board was created 1604 days ago)nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Sat, 22 Aug 2015 19:17:25 +0000 Re:https://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p293505,from=rss#post293505https://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p293505,from=rss#post293505I think so, too! How does The Runboard Directory board compare? Result: 11.46088 (Board was created 3568 days ago) "A nice board by the numbers, you should find the board a fun place to play. So, I plugged their numbers into the Activity Index calculator: Result: 3.4916 (Board was created 3502 days ago) Looking pretty good. nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Fri, 21 Aug 2015 20:26:37 +0000 Re: The RDS Board Activity Indexhttps://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p293489,from=rss#post293489https://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p293489,from=rss#post293489I found the results interesting... The Warhammer Quest board got 1.84445 (Board was created 4475 days ago) while my Bible Notes board got 2.4739 (Board was created 2782 days ago) Someone's Private Board (also related to Warhammer Quest) got 0.37046 (Board was created 1950 days ago) My own impressions of those three boards are that the private board and the Warhammer Quest board are rather successful, though having periods of slowness, whereas the Bible Notes board has been very inactive for most of the time of its existence -- though I am beginning to change that one! It seems to me what hurts the private board's rating (by the calculation method here given) is that people are required to gain membership BEFORE they can even view the private board. So, the members list will be inflated over against the Bible Notes and Warhammer Quest boards where membership will only be gained when the users actually make a post. Therefore, the topics and posts versus membership will be dramatically affected (negatively?) in the private board. A general comment about forum activity in this type of gaming community: many players will visit and read and never, or almost never, post anything! I give the details below that were used in the Calculate AI page. Warhammer Quest board stats Members: 487 Topics: 1202 Posts: 9358 Date board was created (?): 05/21/2003 (earliest post I saw). Bible Notes board stats Members: 8 Topics: 196 Posts: 258 Date board was created (?): 01/08/2008 Someone's Private Board (also related to Warhammer Quest) Members: 507 Topics: 224 Posts: 774 Date board was created (?): 4/19/2010 EDIT: Then I decided to put in the stats for a private board which is located on a private gaming site -- which I am soon leaving. Many days I was the only one posting. Unnamed private board (also for WHQ)(not hosted here, sorry) Members: 104 Topics: 883 Posts: 7334 Date board was created (?): 11/08/2009 (oldest post I could find) 5.16748 (Board was created 2112 days ago) My personal stats for that board 2596 total posts | (1.23 posts per day {ave.} / 35.40% of all posts) Without my posts, that board would have gotten a rating of 3.46437nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Fri, 21 Aug 2015 19:20:16 +0000 Re: The RDS Board Activity Indexhttps://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p260589,from=rss#post260589https://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p260589,from=rss#post260589Just added your board to my boards lists (board round) nondisclosed_email@example.com (Erika)Sat, 31 Jul 2010 17:35:11 +0000 Re: The RDS Board Activity Indexhttps://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p260587,from=rss#post260587https://btherunboarddirectory.runboard.com/p260587,from=rss#post260587Susa's Sunroom Result: 41.37359 (Board was created 1456 days ago) WooHoo!!!!! Now Lesigner Girl has taken the formulas I have developed and made a small website that allows anyone to see how active their message board is. So if you are curious about how your board is doing you can Go Here to find out. General Guidelines Based on 250 board evaluations in June 2010: 0-3 = a board that is in trouble, the board needs to find new and active members (or get new life from the existing members). 3.00001 - 11 = A decent board in a good position to grow. 11.00001 - 29 = A nice board by the numbers, you should find the board a fun place to play. 29.00001 - 120 = A board that is definitely going places. The only thing that could stop it is administrative disaster. 120.00001 - 600 = Fantastic board 600.00001+ = One of the top 100 message boards on the Internet. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Pastor Rick)Sat, 31 Jul 2010 06:10:57 +0000
