WiFi is king!

In the country, I am lucky to get two bars on my cell phone. Today, I discovered I could sync my phone to my WiFi internet connection, and now I can wander over my entire house without the call being dropped or garbled!

How did you do that? I get one bar every now and again, but mostly 'No Service.' I can use my apps at home over the WiFi, but no phone calls.

I only get one bar or No Service at my house, but cannot connect to WiFi because I don't have a smart phone. All of my piano students have their phones hooked into my WiFi and their phones work all over the house.

I lay my phone down, and it will sometimes ring, but when I pick it up to answer it I lose the connection. I've learned to leave the phone where it is and answer it where it lay. I would love to be able to pick it up and talk on it all over the house, and outside close to the house.

My old cell phone was an LG TracFone using Verizon. I could talk anywhere on that phone, no problem. I didn't make sure to get another phone that used Verizon, and I'm regretting it dearly. My new phone is an iPhone TracFone, and is only 2 years old, soon to be three ... when I feel I've had it long enough, I will replace it with another phone that uses Verizon. (Another LG?) Both phones were StraightTalk phones. $50 a month for unlimited calls/texts.

My phone is an LG model smartphone. In my settings for the phone, there is an option to use "Wi-Fi" calling when making calls. When I turned that option on the phone asked me which Wi-Fi network to use, and I selected mine (of course). Now I can go almost 1,000 feet from my home and still be in the Wi-Fi zone. emoticon

In "Settings" I clicked on "Cellular" And slide the switch to the off position for "Cellular Data." I called my home phone, but nothing happened. No dial tone. Turned "Cellular Data" back on and called my home phone ... same thing. I really, really, miss Verizon.

I use LG TracFone with Verizon and that is how I get my 1 bar or less. With any other network, I get no bars. My phone costs about $10 per month for unlimited calls and texts.

Edited to say, it is a flip phone!

Mine wasn't a flip phone. It was an Optimus Dynamic. The only reason I even got a new phone is because it had very little storage. I had a hard time adding new contacts to the phone list. And I didn't have that many to begin with.

That phone was very much needed during Mom's illness. I made and received many calls to and from care givers. After Mom died I changed over to the iPhone. I'm so glad I didn't make the change while Mom was alive. I really wish that phone had had more storage ... I'd love to still be using it.

It seems my phone is too old to use WiFi Calling. (I bought it on sale. Making room for the newest version coming out.)

It can use WiFi for the apps, just not for using to make WiFi phone calls.

My phone is a Samsung Smart phone, and it has a switch that I leave [sign in to see URL] connect to my WiFi as soon as I walk in the door. Then it automatically switches back to my cellular "Verizon" when I walk out the door.
