Is there a way to hide a forum?
I don't just want to make a forum not postable or readable, I know how to do that. What I would like is to completely hide the forum from view. Is this possible?

Is there a way logged in users can write and read to a forum and still have that forum hidden?

Re: Is there a way to hide a forum?
Yes.
Courtesy of Smackdown, in this topic: Board Owner Basics
********
Here is how to do it:
To make a forum private so that only the board owner, admins, moderators and any persons you want to give access to. Goto;
Control Panel > Select Board > Manage > Security Management > Advanced Security Settings > Click Fine Tune 'The Forum'
Set the 'Read' access to 'Require Membership'
Set the 'Write' access to 'Require Membership'
Set the 'Membership Gaining Method' to 'Invite-only membership'.
Then click 'Change Security Preferences'
If there are any users who are not admin/mods that you want to grant access to the private forum you then need to click the 'See Members' button and then type in the users names.

But what if I want everyone to be able to read it? I know this may sound like an odd request, but I have a reason for it.

Re: Is there a way to hide a forum?
To elaborate, I want a forum hidden but readable by all (even those not logged in) and writeable to none. However, when I make it readable to all and writeable to none, the forum still shows. There's no way to hide it and keep it readable-to-all?

Hi
Sorry but that is not possible at all. If hidden only those who are invited can read, see or write depening if you authorise them but no way for what you have in mnd

Re: Is there a way to hide a forum?
The CSS trick has to be turned on for this, and there will be a small gap between the previous and next forums, but give this a shot. With the CSS trick turned on, the following CSS will make the 5th forum invisible on your main page:
#fl_td_5_1, #fl_td_5_2, #fl_td_5_3, #fl_td_5_4, #fl_td_5_5 { display:none; }
If the forum is listed first on your main page, then change the 5's in bold to 1's. If the forum is listed 2nd, then change those 5's to 2's, etc.
