Archived threads - how long?
I have seen numerous runboards with an archive section for 'old threads' or 'expired threads'.
Is there a timeframe when older threads are lost or deleted by system maintenance?
In the case of the SWDA Forums, the vast majority of the threads are archival in nature and I would be extremely disappointed to lose content from arbitrary deletion.
If there is a timelimit to an apparently unused thread, can you please advise here;
1) how long? so that I can put use on them before the expiry.
2) assuage my fears.

Threads do not expire.
However, a forum can hold only a definite number of threads - currently 2,000. Once thread number 2001 is added to a forum, the oldest thread is deleted.
Good use of archive forums should avoid that, however.

if the board has a maximum limit of 2000 threads, how would I be able to move them to an archive in the same board to avoid deletion...or is that 2000 threads per forum within the board?
so if I have 10 forums on my board, I have 2000 threads in each? or 2000 total?
